Things Are Actually Pretty Positive

It is easy to think that things are bad (or will become worse) here in the US and around the world based on what we hear on the news and via social media.  It is even more so during election season!

It’s helpful every now and then to take a step back and think about what’s happening.  I had the chance to do so while visiting family and friends in Canada this summer.  As you might guess based on my role as a financial advisor, I hear from many people about their financial situation.  While in Canada, I heard some interesting perspectives from several Canadian business executives:

“Despite running a successful business for many years, the system makes it hard to put away enough to have a decent retirement.”

“You are lucky to be in the US.”

When I have conversations with successful business leaders in the US, I hear a different message most of the time:

“I do make enough to save for retirement and my other goals, I just wish I had started the process earlier.”

It is definitely true that a large percentage of the US population struggles financially.  However, if you are reading this article, there is a good chance that you are in a much better financial position.  Be grateful that you are in a place that gives you the chance to help fund your goals and be sure not to miss the opportunity to do so!
